It’s a breeze to set up your Steady page in a few simple steps. And don’t worry – it’s completely free to get started, with some small fees and commissions only once you’re earning money.
Worried that your audience is too small? Don’t be! You can still create a Steady campaign no matter your audience’s size.
It’s just important to note that you need to have a supportive community in order to build a successful membership program. It’s generally a good idea to ask your community if it is willing to support you. You’d be surprised!

If you haven’t already, sign up with your Facebook or email.
Start your project
Next, start a new project. This will take you through 4 steps:
Choose your page address (this can be, for example, your name or your publication’s name). Your Steady page is an important part of your membership project – it’s where you share your goals and why you want support from your audience. It’s also the place where you actually sell membership. It’s essentially your membership program’s marketing page.
Enter your publication’s URL. If you have a newsletter or podcast and don’t have a website, you can skip this step.
Choose the currency of your bank account. Your plan prices will be displayed to your audience in this currency.
- Read and accept the Publisher Agreement and Community Guidelines. These guidelines ensure you understand Steady’s values and goals. We expect you to accept our standards of respect, fairness and honesty, while avoiding explicit content, criminal activity, and spam.
You’re now ready to design your page! At this stage, you can see what your Steady page looks like at the moment, including plan options, your goal, number of members and how much you’ve made so far. Don’t worry, it’s not public yet! The page will remain secret until you choose to launch it.
Connect Steady with your website
This is quick and easy to do – and very important. Only once you’ve connected Steady to your website will the integration of various Steady features (checkout, hover button, paywall etc.) work.
Design your Steady page
You can set up your Steady page in your publisher area. Answering the following questions will help you fill out your Steady page: What’s distinctive about your publication? Why do people follow you? What are you giving to your audience?
- You’ll see options to add a hero image, a YouTube video and a description. The most successful Steady pages fill out every section. So we recommend you do, too – how to set up a good Steady page.
Not familiar with making videos? Don't worry, it doesn't have to be professionally made – how to improve your page with a video.
If you need inspiration, look at these examples of successful Steady publishers.
Your goal is based on how much you want to earn. 100 €? 1,000 €? Go for it, but remember to keep it achievable based on your audience size. Unlike crowdfunding, there’s no time limit on your goal. You’ll earn money as soon as you have members.
On the left side of the publisher area, click ‘Goals’.
- Enter your goal. This isn’t mandatory and you’re able to change this at any time. Just let your community know why with the posts feature.
